31 Things for my 31st Birthday
Celebrating my 31st birthday reflecting on books that have changed me, quotes I live by, lessons I’m still learning, and more!
Part of God’s Family
For when you wonder if you have a place at the table, or in God’s family.
Lent is not for changing, depriving, or punishing yourself
Lent is not a time to re-up your New Year's Resolutions or deprive your body of nourishment. It's a time to bring your whole self to a God who loves you.
You Are Enough
What does it mean to do enough? Or be enough? My friend, God’s definition of “enough” is far different than our own.
Don’t Talk About It, BE About It
Love is patient, love is kind… We hear 1 Corinthians 13 read at weddings all the time, but it’s not really about marital love. It gives us deeper insight into God’s character and how we are called to embody God as Love in the world.
Infuse Your Life with God
How would your life changed if you infused God, like tea into a cup of hot water, into every aspect of your being? Would it change how you interact with others? With yourself?
Letter from Jesus
If your life were a letter from Christ, what would it say? As Christians, we are called to embody Christ, carrying forth his message; to let our faith be more than just a belief, but a source of action. How will you live as a letter of Christ to the world?
Am I a Weed?
The Kingdom of God is like… a field with both wheat and weeds. But whose job is it to pull up those weeds? Certainly not ours. As Jesus says, our job is not to judge our neighbor, but to love our neighbor.
Gardening with God
My friend, you could neglect those seeds God plants in your heart forever and God would still find a way to make a garden grow. But how much more beautiful would it be if you tended that garden together with God?
Holding the Door Open
Jesus didn't come to judge; he came to teach and to heal. When we can't seem to ever get it right, Jesus is here to remind us who we are and whose we are. If we are open and listen to his teaching, we can begin to heal the world and ourselves.
Let the Children Lead
When you look at a child do you ever get that small spark of awe and wonder because they are seeing the world with fresh eyes that aren't jaded just yet? Do you remember playing in the dirt and not having a care in the world but just doing it because it filled you with joy? Follow the lead of children, and get back to the basics of what brings you joy.
It’s Okay to Rest
If God and Jesus both had to rest, what makes us think we don’t have to?
